Juliette Derel (1918-2007) et Jean Rivier (1915-2017)

Couple of iconic ceramists from the 1950’s who worked and lived in the city of Vallauris, France.

Born in Normandy, Juliette Derel started her artistic career as a painter in the1940’s but at the end of the decade, she was working with ceramics and living as a ceramist in Vallauris, where she met her Jean Rivier, whom she married in 1953.

During their period together (1953-1961), they created a great production of utilitarian ceramics (lamps, vases, tiles and other objects).

Their name and collaboration are a reference among private collectors and public institutions.
