Born in 1956 Initiated by his parents, (Jacques and Rolande Pouchin) to the arts of ceramics at the age of 17, Dominique Pouchain is a well know ceramist who lives and works in the town of Dieulefit in the Drôme region. His work over the decades has had many transitions, from utilitarian ceramics to only ceramic art sculptures. His universe is filled with animal figures that he creates using a traditional Mediterranean enamel (alquifoux), and a mineral, (galena). As a result, Dominique Pouchain’s pieces are intense dark toned ceramics that absorb the light combined with accents of intense lively colors enamels that reflect the light.
