François Godebski Fractal Resin Globe

Signed and dated fractal resin by François Godebski.

FRANÇOIS GODEBSKI (1940-1997) François Godebski was a Franch designer and sculptor who came from a family of artists, his father was a painter and his grandfather was a sculptor. In 1958, at the age of 18, he moved to Paris to study architecture but quickly transitioned to design and sculpture. He studied painting at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, in Paris, at the same time that he worked for an artisan who manufactured artificial flowers. It was during this experience that Godebski discovered polyester resin, a material that he would use later for his sculptures. He created works ranging from electronic circuits to fractal resin sculptures, for which he is best known. His works were part of the New Realism movement, and his approach to sculptural objects is very avant-garde.
