Pair of sculptural ceramic table lamps by French contemporary artist André Bloch.
Each lamp features a tall, gently tapered ceramic body finished in a richly textured crackled white glaze, creating a subtle network of irregular lines across the surface. One side is animated by expressive deep blue brushwork, giving the otherwise restrained forms a painterly and unique character.
The elongated bases are completed by small architectural ceramic elements at the top, maintaining a continuous sculptural composition from base to shade. The natural variations, irregularities and craquelure of the ceramic surface are integral to the handcrafted character of Bloch’s work.
The lamps are topped with newly made tall cylindrical shades in an ivory bouclé textile. When illuminated, the highly textured fabric filters the light beautifully, producing a particularly warm and atmospheric glow.
A refined example of André Bloch’s approach to ceramics, combining pure geometric forms, tactile surfaces and subtle imperfections.
