Pair of “Oplight” model 20162 table lamps designed by Swedish lighting designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, circa 1970s.
Each lamp features a polished brass cylindrical base, detailed with a distinctive ring of teardrop-shaped perforations around its upper section. The warm reflective quality of the brass contrasts beautifully with the large sculptural shades in opal white glass.
The generously proportioned glass shades have a soft, rounded silhouette with molded stepped details at the neck. When illuminated, the opaline glass diffuses the light evenly, creating the warm, glare-free atmosphere characteristic of Jakobsson’s lighting designs.
The combination of polished brass and softly diffused opal glass gives the lamps a distinctly Scandinavian character while reflecting the more sculptural and experimental direction of 1970s lighting design.
