Pair of Ceramic Table Lamps by Jette Hellerøe for Axella

Exceptional pair of Danish ceramic table lamps designed by Jette Hellerøe and produced by Axella during the 1970s. The lamps feature elegant tapered forms rising from heavily textured brutalist bases decorated with sculptural stud motifs and layered blue-grey lava glaze accents over grey stoneware.

The contrast between the raw matte necks and richly glazed geometric bases creates a striking architectural presence characteristic of high Scandinavian studio ceramics of the period. Both lamps retain their original Axella stamp and artist signature underneath.

They are paired with custom cylindrical shades upholstered in an ivory textured textile reminiscent of hand-knit wool, complementing the tactile quality of the ceramic bodies while diffusing a warm atmospheric light.

Jette Hellerøe was a Danish ceramic artist active during the 1960s and 1970s, closely associated with the renowned ceramics manufacturer Axella. Her work is distinguished by sculptural forms, richly textured stoneware surfaces, and expressive glaze combinations that reflect the organic modernism of Scandinavian design. Hellerøe created lamps, hanging pendants, and decorative ceramic objects that balanced brutalist geometry with refined craftsmanship.
