Large “Globula” Table Lamp by Poliarte

A rare and highly sculptural “Globula” table lamp by Poliarte, crafted in Italy during the 1970s. This distinctive design is composed of stacked, hand-formed glass rings arranged in a rhythmic, architectural column that creates a mesmerizing interplay of transparency, shadow, and diffused light. The irregular texture within each glass element, typical of Poliarte’s artisanal production, gives the lamp a crystalline, almost ice-like appearance.
When illuminated, the lamp emits a warm, atmospheric glow that highlights the subtle variations and natural inclusions in the glass. The cylindrical composition rests on a polished metal base, adding a clean, reflective contrast to the tactile glass structure.
A beautiful example of Poliarte’s experimentation with geometric forms and handcrafted glass, this piece functions equally as a sculptural object and a luminous centerpiece.

Poliarte, founded in Verona in 1968 by Albano Poli, is renowned for its sculptural and highly experimental approach to lighting design. Specializing in hand-cast glass, the company explored texture, transparency, and geometric modularity to create luminous objects that blur the line between art and architecture. Poliarte’s works often feature stacked cubes, prisms, or slabs of thick glass that transform light into a tactile material. Revered by collectors, the brand remains an icon of Italian 1970s design and glass innovation.
