A sculptural ceramic table lamp by French ceramicist Georges Pelletier, executed in his signature pierced stoneware technique and finished in a richly variegated ochre and dark brown glaze.
The baluster-form body rises from a rounded, tapering foot to a gently flared neck. The central register is encircled by a rhythmic constellation of hand-cut apertures, circular piercings of varying diameters, some framed by raised, bead-like detailing and applied cabochon-style ceramic elements. These sculptural perforations are integral to Pelletier’s practice, creating a dynamic interplay of mass and void.
The glaze transitions organically from golden ochre to deep espresso brown, with dramatic pooling and reduction effects characteristic of high-temperature firing. When illuminated, light emanates subtly through the piercings, producing a warm, atmospheric glow and projecting soft halos onto surrounding surfaces—an effect particularly evident in low light.
Shown with a cylindrical natural linen shade.
