MARIUS BESSONE - Born in 1929 Marius Bessone was a renowned French ceramist who spent most of his life in the town of Vallauris, located in the south of France, which is known for its rich history and tradition in ceramics. Bessone's work in ceramics was characterized by his bold and innovative approach to the medium, which incorporated a unique combination of brutalist design and crystallized enamels. Bessone's artistic output included a diverse range of utilitarian objects, including lamps, vases, trays, and sculptures. In 1954, Marius and his wife Huguette opened their own workshop in Vallauris, where they began to experiment with different processes such as crystallization, reliefs on brown tone, and volcanic effects. Over the years, Bessone became a fixture in the local ceramics scene, participating in almost all the biennials of Vallauris, as well as prestigious exhibitions throughout France and Europe.
